This is the whole assembly. It measures approx 34" long. The tail is made
up of 4 lengths of 1/4" braided galvanized steel cable, which I MIG welded (for the first time, so you have to forgive my crude welds) together
at points along the length to stiffen it up. During testing, we discovered it is still a bit
floppy and further stiffening is required.

Here is the business end of the tail. Each of the cables is welded into
a hole on a solid two inch cast iron caster wheel. You can also see one of
the stiffening welds and a hose clamp (which were used to hold the wire in
place while welding).

Here is a cool picture of the actual "smashy" bit. It reminds me of SRL
stuff, with the rust and all. The spikes are 1 piece of sharpened hardened
steel rod, which was pushed through a hole I bored through the caster wheel.
The rod was sharpened on a lathe then on a bench grinder into square tipped points.
I don't know how effective it is going to be against other robots, but it can smash bottles really well!

Here is the attachment point for the tail, also known as the trailer-hitch.
There is a caster on both the top and bottom of the trailer-hitch to act as
Mr Smashy's third wheels. This is all-aluminum except for the U bolts.
